After a slow start, tablet PCs have gradually created a place for itself in the market for smart devices. Initially criticized for being a product with no real use, tablets have now started replacing laptops and desktop computers as the preferred device for all computing purposes. Several reasons can be attributed to its massive popularity, among which the primary reason being its portability. Tablet PCs are generally lighter than laptops and be carried along even when you are on the go. Moreover, most of these devices provide the facility of making voice calls, which is an advantage over normal desktop computers and laptops. Some of the most advanced laptops were released in 2013, which raised the bar for next generation mobile computing devices:
a. Nexus 7: Google released an enhanced version of the Nexus 2012 version with far superior features. The hardware for the 7 inch tablet has been developed by Asus, but the user interface is completely developed by the developers of Google. The device is a great value for money and comes with a superior built and one of the best screen resolutions. The new model sports a rear camera and a stereo speaker system that makes it a great device for photography and music lovers. It is also one of the first tablet PC to run on the Android 4.3 Jellybean version.
b. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1: After the success of its flagship smartphone model Galaxy S4 and the subsequent phablet Note 3, Samsung rounded off its smart device collection with the release of Galaxy Note 10.1. The screen-size of this device is 10.1 inch, which virtually makes the netbooks redundant. The features are similar to the Galaxy S4 smartphone but are optimized for the larger screen. It has been marketed as an alternative for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 edition, which caters to the mid-range market. The best feature of this device is its capability to handle inputs with a stylus, known as the "S Pen".
c. LG G-Pad: After developing devices under the wings of Google for years, LG made its significant comeback as an independent brand with the launch of the G2 smartphone and G-Pad tablet. It is an 8 inch tablet that boasts of features unique to the LG line of products. Apart from providing a 1920 by 1200 resolution, this tablet device runs on one of the best processors: Snapdragon 600. The device is bundled with the Android 4.2 version, while it is expected that the new versions would soon be pushed into the device worldwide.
