I have been using windows 10 on my laptop for a while. I am updated from windows 8.1 to windows 10, The updation was successfully done. But i immediately faced a problem with my laptop touchpad, it wasn't working properly. So i connected to a external mouse to navigate the mouse pointer. If you having touchscreen on your laptop then you can use that one to solve this issue. those who dont have touch screen you need to connect an external mouse before you working through this guide.
- Make sure that your touchpad is enabled.
Go to settings(start>settings), and go to Divices> mouse & touchpad. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click Additional mouse option
The mouse properties window will open, click the tab Device settings, Under device check and make sure that your touch pad is not disabled. If it is disabled, then select touchpad and then click enable.
- Update your Drivers
After updation of your windows 10 you need to update the drivers manually. otherwise some functions will not work properly (windows 10 brightness control problem). So you need to update latest version of drivers.
There are two way to update your drivers, Search Device manager on your search box and click on Device manager. In the Divice manager go to Mice and other pointing devices. And click on pointing devices right click on your touchpad and click update driver software.
The second step is Go to start> Settings> Update and security> Windows Updates> check for updates. Here windows will check automatically the updation of the driver and install it. otherwise you can download driver software from windows store and install it manually. once your drivers are updated restart your laptop.
